| Born and raised in
Basel, Switzerland, Nadja Haldimann studied Fashion Design
in Vienna, Austria and then received a BFA in Graphic Design
at CCAC in San Francisco.
Eager to pursue her interest in technology and user-centered
design, Nadja moved to Seattle in 1997 to work for Microsoft.
During her 8 year tenure she rose from Visual Designer to
Product Design Lead on the MS Office team. She was directly
responsible for the look and feel of Office XP and Office
2003 and as a manager had broad design impact across many
of Microsoft’s best selling software applications including
Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. As a result of her work
with the Office team she holds two US design patents related
to visual and interaction design. One of the highlights of
her career came in 2003 when Microsoft was awarded the IDEA
gold award in the New Media and User Interface category for
their ‘Center for Information Work’, for which she co-designed
the graphic user interface.
In 2006 Nadja left the corporate world to open her
design, Gimbo.com Nadja's focus is on communicating
information effectively in a visually sophisticated manner.
Her unique background combines a practical, user-centered
approach to design with a minimalist sense of aesthetics.
In her personal life, Nadja is an avid painter, costume designer
and amateur photographer and is often found in her art studio,
dreaming up her next creation. |
