Publisher Updates & Feedback

We are improving the publishing process so credible community events are easier to enter, easier to discover and easier to share.

Updated September 27, 2026

Now live

These safeguards are operating on the event publishing form now.

Live

Approved publisher accounts

Screened organizations, venues and event producers can publish credible events and manage events they have already posted.

Live

Required event images

New events require an image. Publishers also receive guidance recommending an image approximately 800 × 600 pixels.

Live

Cleaner event descriptions

Text pasted into the description editor is converted to plain text immediately. Additional server-side cleanup prevents unwanted website formatting from appearing on event pages.

Live

Date and time safeguards

The form checks for reversed dates, invalid end times, events that have already ended and unusually long event periods.

Live

Multi-day confirmation

When start and end dates differ, publishers must confirm that the event intentionally continues across multiple calendar days.

Live

Recurrence limits

Standard repeating events may include up to 100 occurrences and extend no more than 12 months. Custom schedules require editorial review.

Publishing roadmap

These are the next capabilities being considered as we make structured event information more useful beyond the calendar itself.

In development

Faster publishing with GW Enrich

Our free browser extension transfers information from an existing event page into the publishing form for review.

Planned

Source URL and email submissions

A simpler intake process could allow occasional organizers to send a source page or forward a well-formed event announcement without maintaining a publisher account.

Exploring

Public event feeds

RSS or JSON feeds could make events from individual organizers and publishers easier to discover, reuse and share.

Long-term vision

Publish once, share broadly

Strong individual event pages and structured data can become a reliable source for websites, partners, social media, search engines and AI discovery tools.
